It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas … at least on the insides of our homes, if not on the out. Now various decorations are filling up houses and buildings alike, and it’s hard to find a building that comes without an added dose of holiday cheer. Whether in the form of music, bell ringers, or just twinkling lights strung about, it’s safe to say it’s getting closer and closer to the most wonderful time of the year.

The same can be said for our kitchens, which are filling up with red and green items, seasonal tools, and more – all for the arrival of guests and holiday parties. This season, however, why not make your kitchen work in your favor? By staying on top of the wintertime trends, you can help be on the ball for any upcoming events that will come your way.

  1. First up, holiday décor. From red plastic plates, to snowflake wax paper, to green tinted plastic wrap – be sure and have these tools on hand. Not only are they helpful for taking cookies or other baked goods, they add an extra touch of flare for any hosts or coworkers who receive your baked goodies. Pick some up at the dollar store and enjoy festive packaging without spending extra funds.

  2. Slow cookers are another friend this time of year. Put in a roast before work, head up some chili for guests, or melt chocolate for dipping pretzels and fruit. There are so many uses for slow cookers, it’s hard to even list them all on one page. Experiment, explore, and keep yours near throughout the winter for an easy way to keep items warm.

  3. Hot beverage mixes should be kept on the counter at all times. From hot cocoa, to apple cider, to coffee, to pumpkin spice teas, these drinks can help keep you in the holiday spirit. They’re also great to serve when guests stop by unexpectedly – or to send with a packaged mix on their way. Easy to make (or to purchase), hot seasonal drinks make a great holiday treat.

  4. Holiday spatulas are another great way to incorporate décor into the kitchen. Choose red, green, or even gingerbread models to help perform common cooking tasks with a new twist. And when you’re not using them, they’re great for brightening up the kitchen!

  5. Finally, break out your favorite recipes. These are great to have handy (especially holiday-themed ones), and can even be made festive with the addition of glittered paper or ribbon. Display them on your cabinets, fridge, or on a recipe stand. Not only will these entice guests, they’ll look great in the process.

This winter, remember to give your kitchen the best holiday tactics possible by including the items above. It’s a great way to go from blah to a heavy dose of seasonal cheer.
