The trend toward mini foods is everywhere. From breakfast to dinner and dessert, almost any food can be minified. Try some of these, and then experiment with some of your own!

Cake Pops

In the last couple months, cake pops have been getting more and more popular. They're all over the place - at weddings, baby showers, birthday parties, bakeries, and more. Most often shaped like a ball, cake pops resemble lollipops and are normally balls of cake covered in a layer of frosting and then decorated to suit the occasion. There are now cake pop makers that resemble waffle irons, so that you can make them at home.

Muffin Tin Hot Dish

Looking for a good way to portion a hot dish? Bake it in muffin tins! Instead of putting a casserole in a big bowl, put spoonfuls into muffin tins before baking. This also works great for pasta dishes, such as macaroni and cheese or spaghetti. It can also work great for breakfast dishes, such as baked scrambles and hash brown concoctions. Try these prosciutto-wrapped macaroni and cheese cups.

Mini Loafs

Especially good for quick breads, mini loafs are very popular. They make great gifts, and they make portion control a little bit easier. They can also be used to make large bars, or loaf-shaped cookies. If you're looking for some mini loaf recipes that you can make and give as holiday gifts, try these Christmas bread recipes.

Individual Cheesecakes

Why make a whole cheesecake when you can make some really cute mini ones? Muffin tins create the perfect portion size for cheesecakes. Crust can be pressed into the bottom, and cheesecake filling poured on top to create mini desserts. Just make sure to bake them for less time as a full-size cheesecake! Check out this Pinterest board for mini cheesecake inspiration.

Mini Dessert Cups

These small dessert cups or "shooters" are not only popping up at restaurants as small dessert options, but they're also showing up in houses everywhere. Like individual cheesecakes, mini desserts in small glasses are perfect portions, as well as easy to make and serve. Check out this Pinterest board for inspiration and recipes.

Bite-Sized Appetizers

Bite-sized appetizers are especially perfect when you're having a party. From pizza to tacos, almost anything can be made in mini form. Cut tortillas to fit in muffin tins (sticking out just a bit), and throw them in the oven. Once they're crispy, they make perfect mini taco shells. Fill them with your favorite toppings, and serve!
