Are you clueless to the question, 'what is healthy eating?' The United States of America (USA) department of Agriculture recommends you stick to a diet including fruits, vegetables, lean proteins and whole grains. However, what does that mean? What fruits, vegetables grains and lean meats do you need to eat?

Broccoli: A member of the cabbage family of vegetables- is often associated with anticancer benefits, as well as reduced inflammation and a strong immune system. This vegetable is high in fiber and will help keep your blood pressure down and reduce your risk of heart-disease. Ensure that you incorporate this into your daily meal plan. Broccoli can be eaten raw, boiled or event baked, and is fantastic in stir-fries, salads and roast vegetables.
Kidney Beans: Loaded with potassium and magnesium, kidney beans help lower your blood pressure, reduce your risk of heart disease and lower your LDL Cholesterol levels. Furthermore, kidney beans are high in iron and protein, making this the perfect meat replacement for vegetarians. Kidney beans are fantastic in chilli dishes, salads, pasta sauces and stews.
Oatmeal: Oatmeal is high in the fiber beta-glucan, which lowers your, LDL cholesterol and the best food to start your day with. Furthermore, this is an ideal food group to eat directly after exercising, as the energy-producing vitamin B and carbohydrates feed your muscles and allow your body to recover faster. All you need to do is add water or milk and cook on the stove or in the microwave. Add walnuts and cinnamon for extra flavour, nutrients and crunch.
Spinach: Spinach is packed with nutrients, including Vitamin A, Calcium and Iron, which will help keep the skin and eyes healthy. Furthermore, spinach is loaded with folate, which helps for healthy red blood cells and lowers the risk of birth defects during pregnancy. Toss some spinach into your omelettes, stew, salad or sandwiches for the extra nutrients and minerals your body requires.
Ensure that you add these six 'healthy food' items to your daily diet. These 'superfoods' will help lower your blood pressure, lower your risk of heart disease, improve your vision, improve your exercise recovery period and lower your cholesterol levels.
